Arts Center Scholarships Offered
Anders Ringdahl-Mayland has been named interim director of the Arts Center of Saint Peter and will be serving this fall-winter while David Goldstein is on a short leave of absence to travel. A May 2009 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, he majored in history and was active in student government and community service. Anders says, “The arts have always been a passion of mine, and I am gratified to be a part of an organization that has done so much to support artistic vitality throughout southern Minnesota. I am tremendously excited to begin planning for several of our fall events, and look forward to meeting many of you in the upcoming months at gallery openings, performances, and of course the Arts Center Gala: an evening at the Louvre – which I hope you will all consider attending. Please feel free to stop in.”
Thank you to the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council for awarding the Arts Center the Arts Project grant for 2009–10. This will assist greatly in supporting our expanding performing arts calendar.
For many years the Arts Center has offered scholarships to provide assistance to persons in our community who wish to have an arts experience or arts education experience in music, visual art, theater, literature, or dance. As a part of our 30/10 anniversary year celebration two Arts Center Scholarships will be offered in 2009–one $200 Youth Arts Scholarship for a student who is currently enrolled in grades 8 through 11 and who plans to attend a summer camp or workshop for which the fine arts is the main focus and one $200 Adult Tuition Scholarship which provides assistance to an adult in our community who wishes to attend a workshop or course for which the fine arts is the main focus. Application forms for download on the CLASSES page or are available at the Center during our open hours: Tuesday through Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 1 to 8 p.m. or via e-mail request to info@artscentersp.org. Submission deadline is May 15th 2009. Scholarship awards will be announced June 1st.
